When Old Media Comes Crawling
November 8th, 2006 by Justin
There’s rarely been doubt that Google is “master of its domain.” But when newspapers and other traditional media sources start clambering to work with the Goog, it makes one wonder whether the company’s dominance can extend beyond its natural realm.
Word is that Google is marrying its existing technology, which allows advertisers to better pinpoint potential customers, with mainstream print media in the form of daily newspapers. The beauty of the pairup is that not only will it bring the power of more focused advertising to the world of ink and paper, it will also allow Google to flex its technology muscles and bring something of value to the table. With any luck, Google will have a foothold in an area of advertising that still dwarfs the web in terms of overall dollars spent.
